Successful Surgery!

Mimi came through the surgery like the champ that she has always been. Dana was told that it would take half an hour just to get Mimi onto the "fracture table" where the surgery would be performed.

It started about 3, and was finished more quickly than expected (by 5-ish) - a good thing for everyone, those waiting, and those participating more actively!
They inserted a rod to reconnect the broken bone, and did not need to use additional pins.

One of the doctors recommended that she be moved to a ward with a higher level of care than the orthopedic ward, but not as high as intensive care, so that she would have more nursing attention for now.

The expectation is that she will be in the hospital for 4 days, and then need to go to a rehab facility for a while.

First You Gotta Have Heart

Great news - Mimi had an ultrasound this morning and it was reported (to Joanie en francais) that "She has the heart of a young woman!" We knew that.

So as of now the surgery is a go for this afternoon.

Dana reports that Mimi is looking good, chatty, and generally her usual sassy self.
